Will your smoke alarm sound when you need it to ?

Hi! My name is Lucas, and I was born and raised in Prince George, BC.

I am passionate about safety, and doing things right. And that passion truly began in my childhood.

In 2000, we lost our family home to an electrical fire. And that fire, definitely shaped who I am and the work I do, today.

In the middle of a cold winter night, our smoke alarm woke my mother and I. A fire had broke out in our home. We quickly grabbed a few photo albums, and rushed outside to call 911. Only a month prior to this, the fire department had paid a visit to our school reminding us to check the batteries in our smoke alarms, and to have a fire safety plan so we would know what to do in the event of a fire or emergency.

I will never forget the sobering feeling of seeing my childhood home, and precious possessions be lost before my eyes. And truly believe that reminder “Smoke Alarms Save Lives” is the reason I am still here today.

I now take safety, both electrical and fire, very seriously. In fact, past coworkers throughout my career have dubbed me “Safety Luke”, and that’s always stuck with me.

As of today have over 17 years experience in the electrical industry and 4 years in the fire protection industry.

Smoke alarms can be finicky and frustrating, and can cause false alarms if they are located or installed incorrectly in your home. But the job they do is invaluable. And this is where having a trusted Electrician and Fire Alarm tech can really help!

Did you know that smoke alarms are expired after 10 years of use? Did you know that is now required to have a smoke alarm in every bedroom and outside the bedrooms in the hallway? Think about what would happen if a fire broke out in your home, and have strategically placed fire extinguishers that would help you knock down a fire to get you and your family out of your home to call 911. Go over a fire safety plan with your family and practice what you would do.

Don’t forget about Carbon monoxide, the odorless gas produced by fuels like in your furnaces, gas stoves, or fireplaces in your home. Carbon monoxide detectors are now required on each floor and in the hallways outside bedrooms.
